The Most Common Robots.
Most robots are not mobile. The most common robot in the world is the robot arm and most of these move an object less than 2 meters. They stay in the same place and do the same job, over and over again. But this is what robots are really good at. It has been said that robots are better than humans at manufacturing because the first time they do a job will be as good as the thousandth time.
Car building.
Robot arms first became popular in car factories because they do boring and dangerous jobs very, very well. Robots can faultlessly spray paint, among toxic fumes that would quickly kill a person. Robots weld in exactly the right place, every time. Robots make parts and put them together, without ever getting tired, making a mistake or asking for a pay rise.
In the car factory videos, notice that the robots tend to be big and expensive.

Robot revolution.
As robots have become more common they also become cheaper, and easier to use. Universal Robots claim that their robot arm is easy to set up and will pay for itself in as little as 6 months!
The video below explains why this robot arm is so revolutionary ...
... and this video shows lots of applications. Look out for people that have not been replaced, and ask yourself what they are doing.
Just for fun.
Here is a robot arm playing table tennis! Notice that the human cannot win until he figures out the robot's weak points.
